Sugru Gear Mods?

I was browsing through some new products from the OR show and came across This:

They've got a lot of suggestions on their website for applications. The most interesting one for me came from Dennis van Hoek, an Elite mixed climbers who used the Sugru to modify the handles of his ice tools for mixed comps.

I just purchased a pair of BD Cobras, and while I love the tools. I've found the upper pinky rest doesn't protrude out far enough for a secure grip with my fat meat claws of hands. I'm thinking about ordering some of the stuff to extend the pinky rest out a little bit. Have any of you used this stuff? If so (or if not) what do you guys/gals think about the product? A genius life-hack tool? Or a gimmick?

I know nothing of the actual effectiveness of this product BUT Im a huge fan of the unknown and experimenting. Whats the worst that happens? it doesnt work to your liking and you chip it off and no harm done? If thats the case go for it man and share your results.

The product sounds interesting. I want to play around with it.

a friend had some and it works pretty good. i have a sample at home waiting for the right repair/mod.
we made a cover for a bare usb drive. might be good to wear gloves to keep your hands oils out of it.

It's neat stuff and it works as advertised. I wouldn't go using it to fix something my life depended on but for making things like custom grips it would work great.

I'd be curious as to how easily it's removed. If it's easy to take off, then I'm with the Stomed Master and I'll give it a shot, I just don't want to mess up my tools if it doesn't work as hoped.

This looks great BPD.
Try some on a shovel handle or an old hammer from the tool shed to guage its worthiness before trying it on your tools.
Then post the results on the tool wrap thread.
I like the fact that it stays rubberificated when fully cured.
