L Smith and the Last Meal -- Feb 16th

It is now official. On Friday the 19th I go under the knife for rotator surgery.

The last chance I have for climbing is Tuesday the 16th during the day. Weather should be chilly but good enough for something like NTM. I really can't crank too hard but was hoping to get a little Jones-refreshing pullin' down as the last meal for a while.

Anybody? Anybody? Bueller?

Won't be able to climb on Tuesday, but I want to wish you good luck with the surgery. I trust that the surgery won't affect your drinking arm and I hope to see you at the next beer night.

Lee,
I've read that you do not prefer sport, but since you suggested NTM it is apparent that you might consider it. Ever been to Red Rocks Park down in the springs? It would be better for the shoulder and has mucho moderates. I could be talked into it.

If you are going to drive all the way down to the Springs for some sandstone , at least go to the Garden . Red Rocks isn't much of a climbing area in comparison .

Kevin,
I think Red Rocks is just fine, and has more moderates that are closer together. To each their own I guess. As a 12c climber your moderates are much different than mine. :)

Lee,

Thanks for the Cougar trip report...great job you and Tracy did fending him off!

Try this drink for recovering a lot faster from your surgery:

-1 scoop Type 1 & 3 Collagen powder (Neocell brand)
-1 Bromelain capsule (2400 GDU/500mg)
-500mg Vit C with Bioflavanoids
-12 oz water
-a little frozen concentrated fruit juice (w/o sugar)
-dash cayenne

Mix just enough-very easy to over mix and foam.

Take only on an empty stomach (first thing in the morning 45-60min before breakfast). Bromelain is a very effective anti-inflammatory if taken on an empty stomach. Collagen is the body's building blocks for tissue repair, but only if taken on an empty stomach.
I refuse to use NSAIDs and use Bromelain instead.

You can take Bromelain any time on an empty stomach for inflammation-it has no side effects.

Also, take CMO (Jarrow brand True CMO). This is a nutrient for cartilage metabolism even more effective than Glucosomine.

Thanks Tom. Luckily I am a two-fisted drinker so I have two drinking arms.

I am commited to NTM for a couple of reasons: It is close to work, and I think it will be the warmest option. Jim, there is plenty of trad at NTM. It is squeezed in between all the sport routes.

Kevin, where do I get the ingredients for this wonderful concoction?

Fare thee well, Lee. Keep us posted.

Also, Kevin missed the most important ingredient. 3 fingers of tequila helps with absorption.

Lee,

Vitamin Cottage has the best prices and selection. There is one just East of Whole Foods off of 30th.

Recently, I have been saving 30-40% on supplements from:

luckyvitamin.com/p-4996-neo…

Free shipping for orders over $100.

Also, max out on antioxidants. A fast easy way is a product available at Sams Club and maybe Costco: drinkables.com/miracle-frui…

Bummer, shoulder surgery is no fun -- I had mine almost exactly a year ago. Took 5 months off from climbing, but now my shoulder is good as new :-) Probably could've climbed sooner, but didn't want to push it. Best wishes for a speedy recovery!!

Lee,
If you do not get any other offers, I will go with you to NTM. I am dealing with a bit of an elbow problem myself, but know how important it is for you to get out once more before friday. I don't have too much of a rack left (some stoppers and just a few cams) but am willing to lead up to 5.8 at the moment. I'm working to get in better shape by summer or fall. I am a safe climber so there are no worries there. Just let me know by monday night via e-mail. Like I said; if there is anyone else you would rather climb with, who is available, I could stand to rest the elbow but if not, lets go for it!

Lee, I hope you get an awesome day of climbing in, and no more mountain lion encounters, unless, it'll make you feel better. ; ) What a great job you, and Legs did on the standoff!

I wish you best on your surgery, Lee! Keep us posted!

Thanks again everyone for the well-wishes.
We will be hitting NTM around 11:00 and hope things are warmed up by then. Anybody and everybody is welcome!

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
