Because dog's don't argue and bend more easily to the ego of a loner-type... and many true climbing lifers are single. Cause and effect I don't pretend to describe, but I can't help but notice the correlation.
Owning a dog would certainly be easier than being in a real relationship, but then again, less rewarding as well. And for most people, I suspect the $ex is better with an actual human being as well.
(ha ha).

Anyway, none of the above is trying to say anything about anyone in particular, but I have noticed loners have more pets. maybe a 50 year old guy with a dog or a 35 year old couple with no kids and a dog instead is another version of hte old lady with a house full of cats?

I will say this- there were 5 kids on the back of the whale's tail on Sunday that made barking dogs seem like heaven. I'm not against kids, but jesus, whoever you were... You know, kids don't have to be that loud. Nor do they have to chase chipmunks up screefields, an activity which might just get themselves or someone else hurt very badly.

Were dogs even domesticated when this thread started?

To be fair, Steve Williams is living in the state of confusion…
