Description
The Asag was a demon in Sumerian lore who lay with the mountains and fathered an army of grotesque boulder monsters. This collection of large, high-quality granite boulders boasts a diversity of styles and grades that are hard to come by, along with mostly flat, congenial landings. Although flying largely under the radar, this area has had a local following and its not hard to figure out why once you get your mitts on classics like Spermatozoa, Asag Arete, and From Moscow With Love.
Getting There
From the dirt pull of walk uphill parallel to the road for roughly a hundred feet before turning into the woods on a trail which starts by a culvert (This is the same trail as for The Beast Ice Climbing Area). Once in the woods this trail becomes far more obvious and winds up the right side of a drainage after passing by the Roadside Distractions. After roughly ten minutes you will make a left turn at cairns by a dead, downed tree across the trail (The boulders are visible when the leaves are down) and traverse for another five minutes to reach the Conception Boulder. The rest of the blocks are found by following a climbers trail across until you reach a logging road which leads further uphill.
