Description
The northern most beach in Clifton and features some of the largest stand-alone boulders. During low tide you can easily walk north from any of the other beaches to arrive here. During high tide or rough seas you can hug the coastline and will find footpaths to guide your way. During some very high tides or intense storms some of the boulders may be partially submerged. This beach features many isolated boulders and slabs in the sand or ocean.
Due to the steep slopes of Lions Head and the more northern aspect of the cove, 1st beach is the most consistently shaded of Clifton's 4 beaches.

Getting There
Unfortunately there is no easy direct access to 1s beach unless you live in (or are staying in) one of the condominiums with beachfront access. Fortunately, your best bet is to park along Victoria rd. or nearby at the parking lot near 3rd beach. After that, walk down some steep and winding stairs before touching down on the sand. From there walk north until you get to the last beach before the sand comes to an end.
