Description
Hoo-Dooville is sunny, remote, wild, and vast with a terrible approach; but it may be worth it just to explore the crop of hoo-doos hidden here. The hoo-doos do not host any quality rock or climbing and should be respected as the fragile geologic formations they are. This subarea is a large, generally flat ridge top with many tributary washes hosting a variety of boulders and short walls. A handful of boulder problems in the V3/4 range have been done here. For the truly adventurous boulderers this area holds some great potential for development.
Getting There
Much consideration should be taken if exploring here first. The hike is steep, arduous, and dangerous. It is a long approach with no trails and lots of remote navigating and bushwhacking. 4WD/clearance is necessary! Turn right at the first major junction past a small parking area. Stay right at the fork, and follow this rough road until you reach a deadend turnaround. Park and begin slogging southwest up the hillside aiming for any manageable looking break in the ridge top. This requires a small bit of scrambling the headwall over a consequentially steep hill below, and with a pad on it can be dangerous. Careful consideration should be taken here. Once on top, bushwhack southwest looking for a concentration of white rocks with brown mushroom-like caps. These are the hoo-doos, quite a nice geologic area. The surrounding washes around and below contain the bouldering we explored. I will not attempt more specific directions to or from here. Best of luck, stay safe.
