Access Issue: Climbing Regulations/Seasonal Raptor Closures Details

The Joshua Tree National Park Superintendent's Compendium states that:
1. Vegetation is not allowed to be used as an anchor.
2. Only neutral or rock colored bolt hangers are allowed.

Description

Maneater Rock, easily visible from the Key's Ranch Road, is a large east facing block not far above the desert floor with a prominent off-width crack through a roof - The Maneater (5.10d).

Getting There

Drive down Key's Ranch Road and park in a small turnout on the right just past the Echo Cove parking area. Cross the road and head west along a faint trail for approximately 200 meters to the now obvious formation.

Alternatively, if in the Outback, circle counterclockwise around the south side of Dutzi Rock and the Jackson Cracks.
