Description Suggest change

The northern sector of Pins is a dispersed cluster of ten granite spires that have 68 sport, trad, and mixed routes (including a couple of projects). They are accessed off the end of FS Road 402C and occur on either side of Foolhen Trail. Here are the pins found in the northern cluster: Terrapin, Campfire, Space, Clothes, Presidential, Political, Lone, Independence, King, Queen. Oly’s 2009 guide (download pdf from Gravity Sports of McCall website) covers all ten pins, although it has some errors and is sometimes vague on locations of pins and routes.

Getting There Suggest change

Take the informal trail from the end of Forest Service Road 402C, sidehilling though the forest for about ½ mile to where it tops out on a broad ridgeline and intersects Foolhen Trail, a lightly used but clearly marked Forest Service trail. The informal route from the end of the road is well-defined and easy to follow. All the northern pins are accessed off Foolhen Trail.
