Description Suggest change

The Southwest Face offers sunny climbs with beautiful views across to mythical routes like Babel (5.13.a 18 pitches, 800 m) and deeper east into the gorge and out to remote peaks like Tuyat. With the village of Taghia hidden from sight you get a sense of the remoteness. The moderate West Pillar (5.10a, 5 pitches, 250 m) offers a fast route up to the summit of the prominent pyramidal behemoth that is Oujdad.

Getting There Suggest change

From Taghia village the approach is approximately 2 km to the Southwest Face. Start by crossing the stream and following the prominent switchbacks that lead up the the col between Oujdad's West face and Taghrout (the little summit in the middle of the valley). This is also well known as the Berber Passage trail. From the col, follow the West Face to a ledge between cliff bands and then continue to through sections with chains and "constructed" sections of timber and rock upwards and around the mountain. When the view opens up and you reach the lower shoulder of Oujdad turn left toward the Southwest Face.
