The state of West Bengal and its large city, Kolkata, are located in southeast India, adjoining Bangladesh. Kolkata is home to roughly 215 mountaineering clubs. These clubs have reportedly produced more Everest summiters than any other state in India! 

In the western portion of West Bengal are numerous large granite domes. Bansa Hill, approximately 70km east of Ranchi (in Jharkhand state), near the village of Tulin has seen development starting around 2020.

Getting There Suggest change

To reach Bansa Hill, the two most straight forward methods are:

- Take a train west from Kolkata or

- Fly into Ranchi and get a ride east (takes about two hours)
