Description

In addition to the large (280 meter high) dome of Bansa Hill, there are numerous boulders and small crags in the same area. In October 2023, the area's first 8a (5.13) sport route was completed on one of the huge boulders at the base of the hill.

The months of December-February are optimal for a visit.

Camping near the dome is possible. A very good place to stay is the nearby Tulin Heritage Bungalow. The lodge has decent rooms and serves excellent meals. Tuk tuks between the bungalow and climbing can easily be arranged and are inexpensive.

Getting There

Take the train from Kolkata and get off at the Tulin or Muri Junction train stations. From there, you can easily catch a tuk tuk or taxi to the cliff or your lodging.

The closest airport is Ranchi, located about 70km west of Tulin. Taxis can easily be obtained to get to and from Bansa Hill to the Ranchi airport. The trip takes about two hours and in February 2023, cost about 2600 Rupees. The Tulin Heritage Bungalow can arrange Ranchi airport pick up and drop off.
