Non-Aggro Gully, Left Side Rock Climbing

This page enumerates the left side of the gully, starting the the bottom.

Past the overhanging, huecoed stone a staircase leads steeply up into a pleasant little gulch, reminiscent of the Wooden Ships in the main park—except all the routes are easy.

The left side has fewer routes on significantly lower quality but more featured rock, shaded in the early afternoon.

Non-Aggro Gully is a great place for new climbers. With ten routes below 5.10, novices can spend a day clipping bolts or top-roping without ever having to pack up and hike somewhere else—a rarity at Smith.

Moreover, the majority of these easy lines are well protected even when the climbing is simple. Many of the lines are easily accessible from the top either by simply clipping the anchor or a simple rap down.

Owners of Spazzy Dogs: we love the furry little buggers, but some barrel up/down the gully without thought of the established trails, nuking the fragile staircase and fauna. If your dog has a tendency to run amok and trash the place then please take them elsewhere at the Zoo—anywhere else can take the frolicking--or leash them up in the gully to help keep the place from becoming a landslide.
