Description
Sitting south of the primary Dolomites mountain passes and east of Arco, this area is a middle ground between the lower elevation limestone of Arco and the high elevation alpine rock of the dolomites both in character and weather. Expect good quality Dolomites rock, short/mid-length climbs, green vistas, and moderate temperatures.
The most popular routes are approached from the Rifugio Campogrosso and lie on the ridge of rock that forms the western edge of the pass, which has numerous formations of around 150-250m. Monte Baffelan, the 'Apostles', and Monte Cornetto are among the more popular major formations there, each with routes of around 5-8 pitches. Can be crowded due to ease of access from the cities to the south.
