Description
The Waterfall Area consists of a gully with steep walls on both sides. The left side is made up of a sheer wall with beautiful orange rock. The right side is gray rock, but holds many features, from corners to tiered roofs, reminiscent of Rumney. Since routes climb up each of side of the gully, this area may one day yield the highest concentration of individual climbs on the Russell hillside. It's a worthwhile place for a day of cragging, with routes from 5.9 to 5.12, with a heavy dose of 5.11.
Anything dropped in the gully (rocks, water bottles, boomboxes) will rocket down the gully and strafe the area around the base of the Summer Wall. So be aware.
