The two areas Jefferson County Open Space intends to close in Clear Creek Canyon, shown on the attached maps, encompass the active eagle nests. If the Clear Creek eagles continue to nest in the active nests, these areas will remain closed from February 1 through July 31. If the eagles choose different nesting sites, the closures will be adjusted accordingly to protect those eagles during their breeding season.

Currently, rock climbing areas that fall inside of the seasonal raptor closures include:

Stumbling Block

This boulder has the problem Fridge With No Name.

Getting There

It is easiest to get to this problem from the Tunnel 1 Trailhead. Head down the creek for about 5 minutes, and there will be a large, horizontal boulder on your left. Just across the path, and at the base of the gully is this boulder.

Per Brent Kelly: this is directly below Canal Zone proper, central to the bouldering subarea. It is easiest to get to this problem from the Tunnel 1 Trailhead parking lot, just east of tunnel 1. From the lot, head west along the path about 500 feet to the bridge crossing. Cross the bridge, and then head east about 1000 feet along the paved path. As the trail makes a wavy S bend, you'll see the fridge block directly in front of you.

(Long Boulder to your left through a gateway in the iron & wire fencing will also be obvious. Pride Rock is another 300 feet east down the trail, also trailside and obvious.)
