Description Suggest change

Chris Park Road/Haviland Lake Road (791 and 671 respectively) offer access to a portion of the San Juan National Forest that is frustratingly difficult to explore due to the overwhelming multitude of private developments along US Hwy 550 between Hermosa and Purgatory Ski Resort. As of October 2021, this area is largely undeveloped in terms of climbing but offers outcroppings of both limestone and intrusive igneous rock, some of which, may be worth looking into for the aspiring route developer.

Getting There Suggest change

From Durango, drive north on US Hwy 550. Just past the Golf Wall, there is a sign indicating Haviland Lake/Chris Park on the right (east) side of the road.
