Access Issue: Endangered Species Details

Please stay on the trails and stay out of closed areas on the ground and on the cliff

Most of the 14-acre property at Hanging Mountain has been designated as Priority Habitat by MassWildlife’s Natural Heritage & Endangered Species Program (NHESP). As a result, Hanging Mountain and any work performed there is heavily regulated to ensure that the WMCC is in compliance with the Massachusetts Endangered Species Act and Wetlands Protection Act.

Description

This gem of a buttress has a dozen or so routes between 5.8 and 5.12+. If you're up for it, there is no reason not to climb everything this section of cliff has to offer. There are sport, trad, and mixed (yellow bolt) routes, including the stellar 5.9 crack climb, Cloud Nine.

Getting There

From parking lot, follow main trail to the Y, and bear left following the sign toward "Cloud Buttress". The Cloud Buttress will be the first cliff you come to.
