Access Issue: Certain Peaks: Access limited from May to October every year Details

Some of the peaks in this area are restricted (not all). See the Inyo National Forest's Mount Whitney Zone regulations webpage fs.usda.gov/detail/inyo/pas… for current information. Access is usually limited from May to October of every year from the highest elevations of most of the Lone Pine Creek watershed.

Description

A steep striking wall, facing south. Up high there is a smooth orange headwall.

Sits above Primrose Lake.

Best camping is probably at Soldier Lake.

Accessible from the Cottonwood Lakes trailhead via New Army Pass.

Getting There

The easiest access may be from the Horseshoe Meadows. Continue over new army pass and then up the rock creek drainage. This wall is visible from New Army pass.

The area is also accessible from Horseshoe Meadows by hiking over Cottonwood Pass following the PCT then the Siberian Pass trail to Soldier Lake, there are established camps near it's lower east shore.
