Description Suggest change

Baiyansi Mountain (White Rock Temple Mountain) lies in a remote area about 20 km upriver (west) of Shigu. It is huge, complex granite face with multi-pitch trad climbing ranging from 2 to 17 pitches, so far. Expect more exploration of the wall in the next few years, so stay tuned.

Ryder Stroud and Dane Schellenberg are the climbing pioneers and developers of the first routes on the mountain. The Stroud-Schellenberg-Liu Baiyansi guide, current to February 2020, has detailed information on location, access, geology, routes, ethics and more. And great beta and action photos. One known route has been added (in 2022) to the mountain since the SSL guide.

As noted in the Descriptions for both the Lijiang area and for Shigu, be aware of the experience and commitment needed to tackle Baiyansi routes compared to Shigu and Liming.

Getting There Suggest change

Stroud, Schellenberg, and Liu's Baiyansi guide has detailed access information on vehicle access to the trailhead and the hike into the base of the wall, starting at Damaidi Village (specifically Stone Drum House) or from Shigu town.
