Note that the annual closures of the Park View Dome, The Ranch Hand, Black Creek Wall, and Sawmill Crag have been permanently lifted. These cliffs will continue to be monitored, but will only close if a new nest is spotted.
Description
The Never Winter Wall sits above the Red Wall and gets sun pretty much all day. It does have a slight SW aspect which gives it morning shade. Scattered trees at the base also provide some shade. The climbing can be generally characterized as just under vertical face climbing, although bulges and overlaps are present on several routes. Wear your soft shoes here....
Climbers should note that this is a new area, and there is still potential for rockfall. Helmets are recommended.
Getting There
From the Lazy V Lot: Take the Lazy trail to the Service Road, then go right until the trail meets the Staunton Ranch trail. Turn right on the Staunton Ranch trail and follow it until you see a signed climbing access trail for the Red Wall and Never Winter Wall. Follow the signed Red Wall trail uphill as it curves to the east and north of the formation. At the saddle junction look to your right to the start of the Never Winter Wall trail. Follow this now, well-defined trail up to the wall. There is a Y split when you get near the wall, the left branch leads towards The Madman and the Professor. The right branch leads up towards Summer Breeze. A trail also follows long the base.
If the Lazy V parking lot is full, you will need to park at the Meadow parking lot.
