Description
Pet Wall has sport climbing within 20 minutes of downtown Grand Junction. Bring a stickclip! Beware of some large boulders that I was not able to remove (more details in each climb's description). The crag gets morning/afternoon shade and late afternoon sun.
There are also still plenty of climbs to go up around here including a large section of wall about a 5 minute walk to the climber's right of this wall. Most of the climbs have been cleaned and are ready to go, but like with many new crags, this area needs some traffic to improve.
If you want to top rope the routes first, you can access the top very easily. Once at the crag, walk up and left, underneath the roof of Landon's Wild Ride. Continue walking left and you'll eventually go around a bulge (shown in a picture of the crag). Shortly after (50ft. or so) the bulge, there will be an opening with a chimney with only one or two non-exposed 3rd/4th class moves that will put you on top.
Getting There
This shows the wall from the road.
GPS coordinates are: 38.9468449,-108.4800043.
Look for the giant water/black streak across the street from the pullout when you're headed into the canyon. Park at the pullout, cross the street, and walk up towards the black streak while following the cairns. It takes 10 minutes from your car to the crag.
