Description
Instead of dropping downhill on the steep logging road, continue straight on the trail towards the boulderfield above the cliffband. These boulders are the easiest to access in the Skittles areas. The boulderfield continues for quite a ways, but most of the developed lines are in the first section, about a 10 to 12 minute hike from the car.
Getting There
Park at the large pulloff on the left side of Raven Rock Road, right near the beginning of the road. Cross the street and pass the green gate that leads into a small clearing. At the end of the clearing, follow a trail and pass some large cairns. Continue straight, and cross two logging roads. After the second logging road you cross (the one you would turn down to go to lower Skittles), continue straight. There are some moderate boulders on the right, and if you continue, you will eventually arrive at American Chestnut V7, the most classic line in the Skittle Top Boulders. After that, you will run into Rhodo Hell, and if you still want to continue, you will arrive at the Darkside, which has a ton of boulders and short routes.
