Description Suggest change

The Knob Hill area has basically three areas. This is the easternmost area of the hillside and consists of two separate crags. A south-southeast facing face that is easily visible from the trail below, and an east-facing one that features the routes Piggys Conch Shell and Lord of the Flies. Note: There is a known behive between those two routes on the east-facing crag, so bear that in mind.

Getting There Suggest change

Approach this area by hiking east from the Tom's Thumb Trailhead on the Marcus Landslide Trail for about 1/2 a mile. Take the Rock Knob Trail and continue east on that for another 1/2 mile. Pass through the gate leading into McDowell Mountain Regional Park and continue past that for about 130m or so. Start looking for a good place to cross the wash to your left, and also look for cairns. A decent climber's trail will take you up the hill to the south-facing crag. To get the other, scramble down and right from the south-facing crag and around to the base of the east-facing wall.
