Access Issue: Eco Camp Private Property Details

Once you arrive at the sand, walk 200 meters down the beach, turn left and walk 200 meters up the river bed, turn left and follow a trail directly to the main cliff face. This roundabout approach will hopefully help climbers avoid conflicts with the the Eco Camp dogs (one bit a climber during our stay), along with the Eco Camp employees who threatened to remove the bolts if non-camping climbers walk through the private property.

Description

Sector Rio is a 40 meter tall × 30 meter wide section of beautiful vertical limestone with a small cave in the middle of the wall. This area contains 14+ routes with grades that range from 5c to 7b. The cliff is east facing but due to the steep canyon walls the crag stays in the shade for most of the day. Both the routes and the setting are incredible!

Getting There

Sector Rio is located on the south east facing wall of the canyon. It is only a few hundred meters away from the beach but the eco camp owner request non clients to walk around the property. The approach involves crossing the beach and walking up the stream bed for 400 meters. The crag is 10 meters left of the riverbed as the canyon starts to narrow. Look for three large trees that provide shade and the unique cave in the center of the wall.
