Description Suggest change

Although technically not in the San Rafael Swell, I felt this tower didn't warrant a new area/sub-area or at least until Battleship Butte and Gunnison Butte are added (likely never—however, it's on my list someday).

Blue Castle is the mud veneered tower north of Green River. Expect chossy, mud-covered, severely fractured Mancos Shale. The massif contains two towers and the western tower is the higher and dirtier of the two towers. If climbing, be well mastered in D-nail tactics, beaks, and mud spectres. The eastern, lower tower appears to have a clip-up nail route on its northwestern side–went in within the last 2 years (2019-2020) and wasn't there when I initially scouted Blue Castle as an objective in early 2019. Any further information would be appreciated.

Getting There Suggest change

From the thriving downtown metropolis of Green River, drive north on Long Street for 6.8 miles. Turn right onto a high clearance road (any AWD vehicle with modest clearance should suffice). Stay right at all junctions (not many) and drive to the end of the road just south of Blue Castle. Follow mountain biking trails north to the base of the massif. Expect a 10-minute approach.
