Description
Teeter Top offers a nice selection of chill slab routes with fun features. It has a distinct profile of a white slab with a precarious looking boulder perched on the cliff edge. Each route is spaced out enough where it feels like its own line. This is a nice alternative for beginners if White Cliff or OG West are too crowded. One can set up a toperope on many of these lines, but be wary as there are plenty of loose rocks on the cliff edge. With zero crowds and quality stone, this place is worth a visit for any Summit County climber.
This wall and its original routes were initially put up by Scott Astaldi and Mike Gruber many years ago, but this once overlooked crag is seeing a recent surge of development.
Getting There
Two approach options exist. Either choice involves a hint of adventure, but the distinct profile of the wall offers a good reference point.
1. Park at the Whitecliff pullout by mile marker 200 off I-70 Westbound. Trudge up the heavily trafficked path to the wall, and head far left. After passing Ain't Misbehavin', keep heading left up a trail, and you'll pass a wall of vibrant orange lichen before heading uphill. Once the trail gets steep, keep an eye out on your left for a rock pile at the base of a fallen tree. From here, just head west on a faint trail following a good cairn path. This is still a work in progress, but it's a pretty straight shot. The trail stays mostly level and is 0.2 miles at most. Once you hit the wall, walk to the western end, and scramble up some 4th Class terrain to the belay ledge.
2. Originally suggested in Karden's guidebook, one can alternatively park at the Brick Wall/Alcoves pullout. Head northeast and uphill through slightly heinous terrain. You'll reach somewhat of an open plateau, keep heading east until the wall comes into view.
