Description Suggest change

A granite horn in the Anderson River Range, one of the two most obvious summits from a distance (the other is Steinbok). To the Nlakapamux peoples of the Fraser Canyon, these peaks were known as Tsel-tsel, the Spider Peaks. The south and east faces are steep while the northwestern side is gentler.

Getting There Suggest change

Two approaches have been used, both from the Anderson River FSR. Because of inactive roads and alder growth, neither is great at the moment, and a damaged bridge stops vehicles near where both approaches fork.

Approach 1: take the heavily overgrown Branch 600 from the north to a point opposite the east face of the mountain, then bushwack up to the base, which also gets you to the base of Springbok Arete on Les Cornes. This is the approach described in the Beckey guide and Alpine Select

Approach 2: take the southern branch of the FSr from the bridge, and after about 4 km, bushwack up the creek flowing west from the south side of the peak. Climb very steep dirt past a waterfall on its north side to reach old growth (fixed hand line) then hike easily through old growth forest to below the peak's southeast col. The fastest approach under current conditions.
