Description
The Narrows is a collection of excellent limestone climbing in the middle of the Stansbury Mountains. Laden with deep history, climbing in this area began in the 80's and boomed in the 90's. What a find and what a time that must have been! Since then, more development followed only adding to the areas quality.
Found along the road are numerous crags within walking distance with easy approaches and the occasional tricky belay. Sport climbing is the primary focus here, making this an easy destination to blow the dust off your stick clip.
The Narrows hosts some of the most dense limestone in the state and offers a challenge for intermediate to advanced climbers. Most routes are in the 5.11 - 5.13 range. Temperatures will vary, but shade exists on all facets and can be found with little difficulty.
Getting There
Travel on Interstate 80 until you reach the Grantsville Exit #88. Drive along Main Street until you see signs for South Willow Canyon. Continue on paved roads until a marked turn for South Willow Canyon appears. Turn here and follow the road until you reach Forest Service land. Pavement turns to dirt after 3 miles and camping/picnic sites appear. The first crag you encounter will be Lover's Leap and the rest will follow. See individual areas for more detail.
