Description
This area consists of a long bouldering ledge facing west on one of the shallow ridges that run perpendicular to the road east of the pond. The wall itself is at least 75-100 feet long, but the majority of the clear climbing section is within the middle portion of the wall. If you continue south there are further scattered developed lines. There are still possibilities for further development. Keep an eye out for poison ivy.
Getting There
Park at the new 10 car lot on the north side of Rt 165 just uphill a bit east from the pond. Watch out for cars and cross the road towards the gated dirt track (like you were taking the "upper trail' to New Beach), but instead of heading in, walk east along the bank of the main road ~100 yards. A little past the second paved drainage area and before the crest of the hill look for a small piece of ledge at the edge of the woods that kind of makes a ramp. Duck into the woods here, angling a little up to your left (might see a cairn 20 feet in) , then a climber's trail swings back down a little to the right and straight back a couple hundred yards or so to the ledge.. Note, there is a hunter's trail that starts just beyond, that heads in along the crest of the ridge, so if you find yourself on the ridge you took the wrong trail..
Sounds complicated, but once you first do it, it is quick and easy.
Note - Don't park by the gate or along the road on the south side. It is posted no parking and you will get a ticket and be towed.
