Access Issue: Climbing Regulations/Seasonal Raptor Closures Details

The Joshua Tree National Park Superintendent's Compendium states that:
1. Vegetation is not allowed to be used as an anchor.
2. Only neutral or rock colored bolt hangers are allowed.

Description

This little area has been "discovered" as a climbing venue at least three times since the early 1990s. In addition to being named the Cinema, it was later christened the Aerodrome and then Blitzo's Rocks. A number of short routes from 5.3 to 5.10 have been done here.

Getting There

The Cinema is located west of Cap Rock. Drive toward Keys' View from Cap Rock parking area about 1/2 mile to the first paved pullout on the right. Walk about five minutes (a couple hundred yards) to the first group of rocks.
