Description
Another obscure but quality Summit crag, Shark Wall is a killer hang with a smattering of old-school routes and a few new rigs. Pair it with the nearby Cuckoo's Nest, and there's a solid offering of 5.9-5.12 climbing that you'll almost certainly have to yourself.
Getting There
There are a couple of ways to access Shark Wall. The first way leaves from the eastern flanks of Grouse Slab and generally travels along the base of a series of small cliff bands. This approach used to be heiniously shrubby but has been trimmed back recently. This is the most direct approach and gains the least elevation.
An alternate approach follows the PCT and is on a trail for 95% of the way. From the standard Grouse Slab parking, go up the switchbacks to where the PCT flattens out, then starts dropping again. Pass a small pond on your right and keep going for a few minutes until the trail makes a hairpin left-turn.
Leave the PCT here, cross a dry creek, and you'll immediately pick up another trail on the other side. Follow this south, then down some low-angle slabs until an obvious tree in the gully, where another trail will lead you to the base.
