Description
This large beautiful limestone crag sits high up in the mountains outside of Lucca and features 171 bolted sport routes which range from 5.7 to 5.13b. The crag is at about 3000 feet of altitude and has some great views of the valley. You can park right at an overhanging cave with 8 routes but the majority of the crag is a short 5-10 minute hike around to the other side. There are cliffs that face many different directions and a fair about of Beech trees to provide shade. There are slabs, vert climbs and overhanging routes and the bolting is safe.
Getting There
La Rocchette is about 1 hour north of Lucca. From Lucca drive north on SS12 and then SP20 to get to the village of Gallicano. Head up SP41 for about 20 minutes past the village of Molazzano and then continue up towards the village of Piglionico / Alpe S. Antionio. Where the road forks take the left road to Piglionico. The parking is on the left side of the road in front of a cave with bolted climbs about 6 minutes before you get to Piglionico.
To the left of the cave is a path (labeled 134) and curve down and around right to the crags
