Follow existing trails and climb using removable protection or in climbing areas with existing approved fixed anchors or bolts. Development of any new rock climbing, bouldering or rappelling areas and development of any climbing routes involving the permanent installation of new fixed anchors or new trail construction requires prior Forest Service authorization.
Description
Well-travelled by hikers for its small arch, panoramic views, and easy approach, the Princess Arch buttress is also home to a few traditional climbs put up back in the 70's and 80's.
Getting There
Drive all the way to the end of Chimney Top road and park in the terminal loop. The trail is located towards the beginning right side of the parking area. Hike a half mile, just past the arch, to the end of the buttress. It is easiest to rappel off a tree on the right side to get to the base of the wall instead of hiking all the way around.
