Access Issue: Falcon Closures Details

Seasonal Falcon Closures in effect from March 15 - July 31.

- Roughneck Area
- Wildcatter Wall

Note that the annual closures of the Park View Dome, The Ranch Hand, Black Creek Wall, and Sawmill Crag have been permanently lifted. These cliffs will continue to be monitored, but will only close if a new nest is spotted.

Seasonal Falcon closures in effect from March 15 - July 31. - Lion's Head (not pictured). - Roughneck Area. There are no closures at Staunton Rocks.

Description

The Beyond Authority Area is the assortment of cliffs located outside Staunton State Park’s northwest/north boundary. These cliffs are accessed through Staunton State Park, so keep your pants on until you pass the property line. The cliffs range in height from 60 to 200 feet, they face primarily southwest, and the rock features vary between the individual crags.

Getting There

From the Staunton Ranch trailhead parking lot, hike or bike the Staunton Ranch trail to the intersection of Borderline and Bugling Elk Trails (approximately 3.3 miles). The Beyond Authority Area is north of the Borderline and Bugling Elk Trails.
