Description
Greater Augusta Area: From Lewiston to Waterville
This area covers a not quite mountainous, not quite coastal, river filled section of the Maine interior, stretching in an oblong oval from Lewiston up to Waterville.
Historically this part of Maine is quite storied, first supplying lumber to the British Colonialist for ship building, then becoming verdant farmland, then a hot bed of industrial mill activity, before moving on to it's present day rustic existence.
Augusta, the capitol of Maine is here, along with it's state university and the colleges of Bates and Colby are located at the respective ends of this stretch. Many lakes and low hills abound.
