Description
There is a small amount of climbing in Rwanda, with Bogogwe, not far from Lake Kivu, being the best. While the climbing potential isn't world class, if you are visiting Rwanda to see gorillas, it's easy to also climb at Bigogwe and spend a night or two at a resort on Lake Kivu.
If you are new to Rwanda, look for climbing groups on WhatsApp and Facebook. Note that the Facebook page is mostly used by people trying to sell you "guiding" services or hiking trips. If you post, a local climber will hopefully see it and help you out!
If you decide to partner with local climbers and do some route development in Rwanda, one of the best places to get supplies is M Hardware in Kigali (directly below the M Hotel). They have wire brushes, SDS bits, glue capsules, pruners, etc.).
