DescriptionThe Far East Wall is located on the east facing hillside below the popular hikers lookout on the South Peak of Chinese Mountains. The wall is to the right (northeast) of the main East Wall, hidden from view by high trees. There is quite a bit of rock here, surprisingly clean, over several tiers and sections of wall. The shady aspect makes it a perfect destination for hot summer days but in the winter it is prone to seeping.
Getting ThereFar East can be reached by two access paths. The most obvious is to follow the main Chinese Mountains Trail directly out of the parking lot following the signs for the South Peak. Hike up the steep trail along the old logging track, watching for a sign indicating a junction where the trail to the South Peak heads off to the left. Take this trail and follow it through some open mossy meadows and then across a small bridge. Immediately on the peak side of the bridge leave the trail by heading left on a rough path that traverses the hillside above the small creek. Hike along this path as it gradually trends uphill leading to the base of the Far East Wall.
