Description
A region on the west coast of the island, most notable for the large mountain in the centre of it. Some good rock routes are available outside winter on the slopes of Mt Taranaki, and in winter it is a popular destination for moderate mountaineering (Yet the mountain can be quite treacherous due to rapidly changing weather).
