Hemsedal, located in south-central Norway, has become a popular destination for winter sports enthusiasts. And, according to the guidebook, Hemsedal Ice (2012), it is the "cradle of Norwegian ice climbing", and boasts more than 100 established routes in a relatively compact area. These include a couple of Norway's best know routes, Hydnefossen and Grotenutbekken. This is an area not to be missed!

Getting There Suggest change

From Oslo, take the E16 NW to Hoenfoss, pick up RV7 to Gol, and then on to Hemsedal. Total distance is roughly 220 km.
