Description
A wonderful WI4+ big waterfall that is far enough from Hemsedal that it is rarely crowded. North-facing, so it is often in good condition. 2 long pitches with a 60m rope or 3 shorter pitches. Wide enough that it is possible for lots of teams to climb in parallel with low risk of getting hit by ice. The approach is a 2 hour snowshoe approach to the top of the fall, followed by 2 rappels (need to set up a v thread for the 2nd rappel).
Getting There
Drive to the Harahorn hotel (easy to find in google maps)... then, keep going up the road to the gate. Pay the toll (60 Kr... credit card accepted) to open the gate and drive to the end of the road. Put on your snowshoes / skis and head due northeast to the top of the falls. GPS 60.9604, 8.499533 to the top of the falls. Rappel down (2 rappels, so make sure you are comfortable making v thread anchors).
