Description
South of La Rumorosa, and west of Laguna Salada is a beautiful canyon with good quality granite domes similar to Joshua Tree or Cochise Stronghold. El Tajo also has the highest granite wall in Mexico, El Trono Blanco (The White Throne). There are trad, sport and mixed routes here, ranging roughly from 5.7 to 5.12. Usually way too hot in the summer, better as a winter destination
There isn't that much public, comprehensive information about this area, but there is a guidebook that includes El Tajo. It's called "Guia de escalada en Mexico". They have a volume for northern Mexico and another one for central and southern Mexico. Both volumes are in both Spanish and English. You can buy it here
