Description Suggest change

The Elizabeth Burns McIntire Forest is a conservation property owned and managed by Monadnock Conservancy. The property was generously donated by Ben and Judy Sands on November 13th, 2015 and is named after Ben's aunt, who used the land as a summer getaway and eventually passed it on to Ben and Judy who have made decided to make this public for future generations to enjoy. Much of the maintenance of the trails and hardware is thanks to Monadnock Climbers Association members. Be sure to support them.

Known in the community as "Marlow Profile" (or sometimes "Bald Mountain Preserve"), climbing here dates back to the 1970s. This is not a destination climbing area by any means but it does offer a decent amount of climbing, both trad and bolted, with a short approach in a fairly quiet corner of the state. There are two general craglets found here on the southwest side of Bald Hill. The first approached, Dark Tower, is in the shade most of the day where the Main Face just north gets afternoon sun. Some additional climbing can be had on the terraces above.

The rock type here is a coarse-grained metamorphic schist/gneiss with large crystals of feldspar. Most of the routes have bolted anchors at the top but make sure to inspect anything used for protection.

Parking is along the road, in a small dirt patch. Maybe 10 cars with more roadside parking up the road.

Dogs are allowed but should be under control, voice, leash, etc.
