Description
Butterbags Buttress is seen from the road as a dark, blocky formation atop a rocky hillside that rises from the eastern edge of Cottonwood Wash. Home to a handful of quality moderates, the area is worth a visit if in the area but certainly no destination.
Getting There
Located about 4 miles south of the Cottonwood Ranger Station and 5 miles north of the junction with Interstate 10. Parking is available just off the road in view of the formation and the approach, along a sandy wash and then up a rocky hillside, takes 30-40 minutes depending upon fitness.
