Description
The Jones Road Cliff is in northwestern Ontario near Kenora. It is a roadside cliff, in an forested area of small lakes on the Canadian Shield.
The rock is solid, a few crack climbs, mostly face climbs, several slab routes. Most of the routes are sport, a few trad, some mixed. Heights range from about 6 to 30 meters (20 to 100 feet). There are also boulders that can be found along the highway east of the side road leading to the parking area.
There is free tent camping and parking available right at the base of the cliff, 5 minutes walk to the cliff and to a nearby lake. An outhouse can be found in the forest on a trail above the campsite with a large stone table. No running water is available.
If you stop off in Kenora, try the Lake of the Woods Brewery for some good beer and poutine.
If you need any gear, there's Mountain Equipment Co-op in Winnipeg (actually this is far away, but the closest I know of...also you need to pay a small membership fee if you're not already a member).
