Description
Sydney!
The largest city in Australia with a population of about 6.5 million people. It's home to the world famous Sydney opera House, the world's largest movie theater screen and tons of sandstone rock climbing!
The best climbing around sydney is at classic spots like Point Perpendicular, Nowra, and the Blue Mountains which require a little drive, but there is also a ton of climbing right in the city. There are sandstone crags and boulders strewn throughout the city in parks and valleys. Also, there are sandstone cliffs along the entire coast of the city. Much of this is choss and/or often wet, but it offers some adventurous and often dangerous ascents that are easy to access and in a beautiful setting.
The rock here is sandstone, so it often seeps and stays wet and brittle after rain. Be sure not to climb immediately after it has rained.
