Description
Consisting of mostly managed forestry land, Ennerdale is less accessible by road than many of the other Lake District valleys. Access East of Ennerdale Water is either by foot (a long walk, but on good tracks) or mountain bike along the forestry roads.
It contains various minor crags, but the main reason to make the journey is for the magnificent Pillar Rock. Situated high on the northern flank of Pillar mountain, it hosts many classic routes in a remote, mountain setting.
