Description
Everyone knows about the sport climbing mecca outside of Mesquite known as The Cathedral, but relatively little is known about the Mormon Mountains which are roughly the same distance from Mesquite and contain some of the awesomest limestone in the US. Perhaps the problem is the relatively little development that has taken place, or the hour+ steep hike to get to the better climbing (Spanish Isles sector), but this area has so much potential it is mind blowing.
The Mormon Mountains are very secluded and empty, and you could go for days without seeing another human being, but that isn't a reflection of the quality of the climbing. As with most desert areas, there can be some wind, and summers can be too hot, but by chasing sun or shade at the appropriate times of the year, climbing can be done nearly year round.
I personally have spent very little time here, but I want the area posted here so that those who have more information/better information can post it up. Please contribute if you have any new info or corrections to the info that I've posted.
