Getting weather forecast...

Description

This is the most easily accessed area in the Mormon Mountains. It is an east-west running canyon with a ton of excellent quality limestone on both sides of the canyon, though the developed climbing is on the south. The canyon does tend to funnel the wind through it, so it can be a bit breezy.

Getting There

From the GPS coordinates on the main Mormon Mountains page, just turn right and follow the dirt road until it dead ends at the campsite.

No info is better than wrong info! Please don't make up names for this area just because you want something to post. The real name is Missionary wall. Feb 26, 2014

As I have said, I'm happy to change the name of this area to the correct name. Unfortunately, I don't think the name of this canyon is Missionary Wall since the canyon has walls on both sides of it, and at least two distinct developed areas with the possibility of many more. One of those two developed areas may be called missionary wall, or possibly the entire south side of the canyon (this would end up being pretty confusing once the area sees further development, so I'm hoping this isn't the case)

For now, I'm changing the name back to campsite canyon since this is a descriptive name that will allow for additional areas within the canyon to be posted, and if I can get confirmation that the four routes I posted under the name of "campsite crag" are actually on "missionary wall", I'm happy to change the name of that area. The rock is very high quality limestone, it can be a bit sharp in places, but comparable to high quality euro limestone. Jan 29, 2017
