Description
The Shipley Upper wall is fantastic easily accessible sport climbing crag. It faces northwesterly, which means sun in winter and is very well bolted. The climbs here vary from 15m slabs to 30m overhang beauties. The style is generally pumpy face climbing on crimps. The higher the grade the smaller the holds and further apart they get. Usually bouldery sections are broken up by horizontal breaks offering rests, often no hands. It is very popular which means it will often be crowded. Especially on the 'warmups'.
Getting There
From Blackheath - cross the train tracks and turn immediately left. Take the next right and head down 500m to Centennial Glen Rd, Turn right onto this and follow to the end. Find a park. It gets really busy with climbers and walkers on the weekend.
Take the main track heading towards the cliff line. Descend some stone steps and turn left. Follow this track around for 200m and you are there. The first climbs you come to are steep and hard. Keep walking to find the less steep and easier grades. The first log you see against the cliff is the Supercal log.
