Description

A 450' high slab at a low angle. Very, very traditional. Sun in the afternoon. Sound rock, but very polished by generations of scrabbling boots. Serious risk of over-crowding on busy days.

Getting There

Walk up a well-made path from the parking at Ogwen Cottage for about 25 minutes to the base of the slabs, overlooking Llyn Idwal.

Long before I moved to the US my friend Marc and I were at the top of the Idwal Slabs after doing "Tennis Shoe" - we met a couple of Yanks, one of them asked "how's it going?", Marc and I looked at each other mystified. I subsequently began to tell him just about everything we had done that day and what we had planned for the afternoon! Nov 26, 2011
